When the world shut down during COVID, Wellington City Council brought art out of the gallery—and into the streets. We were proud to be chosen as the lead partner for transport, procurement, and logistics on one of the city’s most ambitious cultural events: “Digital Nights Wellington – Van Gogh Alive.”

The concept? Build a temporary colosseum on Odlins Plaza, made from:

  • 52 stacked shipping containers
  • 21 projectors
  • 2 speakers

The result: an open-air, multi-sensory art experience, projecting Van Gogh’s masterpieces—like The Starry Night and Sunflowers—onto towering container walls. Visitors were immersed in colour, motion, and sound, walking through the art rather than just viewing it.

Wellington was the first city globally to host this outdoor version of the renowned exhibition by Grande Exhibitions. Combining cutting-edge tech with timeless art, it created a unique cultural moment for locals and visitors alike.

Pinnacle Event Logistics is proud to have been part of this innovative project and looks forward to more opportunities to be involved in similar creative ventures.
